Dental Bonding

Dental bonding is a procedure in which a tooth-colored composite material is applied to the tooth and then hardened with a special light. As a result, this material “bonds” to the tooth and can help improve the overall appearance of your teeth. Aesthetics are the main advantage of this procedure, but it can also be used for the following purposes:

  • Cosmetic improvement
  • Protection for sensitive teeth
  • Replacements for silver fillings
  • Decay repair
  • Repairs for chips or cracks in teeth
  • Closing spaces between teeth
  • Changing the shape of teeth

Bonding restores beauty and functionality to teeth, and Dr. Lupy Gonzalez can accomplish great results with this procedure. After bonding, your teeth will be stronger, your smile will look brighter and you will feel more confident. The smile you have always wanted may not be far away. Our dentist and team provide dental bonding in Houston, Texas, that can last for many years with proper care and maintenance.

The Procedure

The bonding process is usually completed in one visit. The surface of the tooth will be prepared and conditioned for the application of a putty-like material called resin. The resin is then applied with careful sculpting, shaping and coloring to contribute to the naturally grown teeth in your mouth. A high-intensity light then causes the resin to harden (bond) to the surface of your teeth. The resin is then smoothed and polished to look and feel like your naturally grown teeth.

After the procedure, you will be given instructions for the care and maintenance of the new bond. By following consistent hygiene practices and attending your regularly scheduled dental appointments at Clearpoint Dentistry, you will aid in the life of the bond.
